Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875) La frileuse n°2 Published by Susse from 1920 Bronze with light-brown patina Signed "JB Carpeaux Bears the circular insert, the foundry mark "Susse Fres Edts Paris" and the letters "P" and "B". H. 24.5 cm Worn patina Full of vitality and sensuality, this model was created in 1871 during Carpeaux's stay in London. It belongs to the repertoire of decorative female statuettes that the artist invented to compensate for the halt in official commissions during his exile.
