Set of modern illustrated books published by Les Francs Bibliophiles. 1/ - Chateaubriand - Diaz, Gérard. - Journey to Italy. Letter to Mr. Joubert. 1977. Oblong quarto in black percaline with laces, publisher’s slipcase, titled on the spine (bound by Duval) - [26 ff.]. Text set in 10-point typewriter type, and 18 original intaglio engravings by Diaz (3 double-page spreads, including 1 in color, 6 full-page plates, and 9 insets, including 2 double-page spreads). Printed in an edition of 170 copies (No. 5, personalized). 2/ - Van Gogh, Vincent - Collin, Pierre. - A Link in the Chain. Excerpts from the correspondence of V. Van Gogh. 1990. Folio in loose-leaf format with a stamped title cover, bound, in a box with flaps and laces by Bernard Duval (water stain on the percaline with a red spot on the endpaper) - [35 ff.], including 17 engravings by Collin (9 full-page plates, 4 of which are double-page spreads; 7 half-page plates, 2 of which are double-page spreads; 1 tailplate). A print run of 167 copies produced to mark the 100th anniversary of Van Gogh’s death (1880–1980), this one inscribed (no. 127). 3/ - Mahler, Gustav - Wong Moo Chew. - The Song of the Earth. 1983. Large oblong in-4, loose-leaf in a plain cover with flaps, in the publisher’s slipcase. Juxtaposed text in German and French—[32 folios in total], including 12 intaglio engravings by Wong Moo Chew. A print run of 170 copies (No. 9, numbered and signed by the artist). Included: 4/ - Chateaubriand - Lalau, Maurice. - *Atala*. Paris, Published at the Expense of a Group of Bibliophiles, 1932. In-4 in loose sheets with a padded cover (spine missing), slipcase and case in need of restoration - 148 pp., [4 pp.]. Illustrated with a title vignette, 25 color interior plates, and 6 monochrome end-plate illustrations by Lalau. Printed in an edition of 120 copies on Rives vellum; this is one of the 100 (no. 49).
