London and Paris, Barbou, 1765. 12mo, contemporary binding in light calfskin, covers decorated with a double frame of gilt fillets, decorated raised spine, gilt fillet on the edges, gilt edges—a small loss of leather on the first head block— [1 f. fx-title], XIII, (including the title page), 214 pp. Frontispiece “la Pazzia Regina del Mondo” engraved by Longueil after Gravelot, lovely vignette at the top of page 9. Latin edition of *In Praise of Folly*, written by Erasmus during a stay with his friend Thomas More and dedicated to him. The Greek title on the title page is a play on words that can be interpreted as “In Praise of More.” This edition is the work of Anne-Gabriel Meusnier de Querlon, who would also become the first publisher of Montaigne’s journal, rediscovered in 1770.
