A collection of 3 documents regarding the appointment of British military officers. 1/ - Appointment as colonel – A certificate issued by the administration of George III, King of England, appointing Lieutenant Colonel William de Vismes as colonel in the Royal Army in the 2nd Regiment of the Foot Guards. St. James’s, January 26, 1797. A vellum document (29 x 40 cm) signed by Woodmann and countersigned by Portland, bearing two embossed seals of the royal administration. 2/ - Two commissions from Queen Victoria concerning Henry Auriol Douglas de Vismes; the first dated December 13, 1851, appointing him first lieutenant in the Royal Regiment of Artillery; the second dated June 8, 1862, appointing him second captain of a battery in the Royal Regiment of Artillery. Two documents on heavy paper; the first bearing a one-pound-ten-shilling revenue stamp on blue paper, the second bearing a one-pound-ten-shilling revenue stamp and the dry seal bearing Queen Victoria’s Great Arms.
