Oblong format (17.6 x 37.5 cm) in loose-leaf form, housed in a publisher’s slipcase with the title in gold lettering on the spine—slipcase slightly sun-faded—[30 ff., title page, preface, alphabet book, colophon]. Illustrated with 27 hand-colored lithographs (title page and 26 words for the 26 letters). Printed in an edition of 300 copies; this one is one of 50 hand-colored copies (no. 7/50) signed by the artist and the author of the preface. Rare first edition.
