Short-heeled bowl in polychrome enameled porcelain, decorated on the rim with turquoise medallions of dragons and phoenixes on a coral background embellished with gold vases, the interior with an unfurled dragon in iron red; the lip gilded, the base marked in iron red with six characters in kaishu (da Qing Guangxu nian zhi). Fels through, restoration, enamel and gilding wear. China, Qing dynasty, Guangxu reign (1875-1908). H. 6.8 cm; D. 13.5 cm. The iconography and physiognomy of this bowl evoke the imperial bowls of the Qing dynasty.
