Important late antique Kachan Kork Iran, circa 1940-50 In the tradition of Dabir Kachan rugs (Dabir master weaver's workshop) High-quality silky lambswool pile on cotton backing Some natural oxidation Fairly good overall condition Good fineness Density approx. 7,000 knots per dm2 Ruby-red field decorated with scrolls and garlands of flowering palmettes surrounded by foliage and adorned with a large central poly-lobed rosette with teardrop-shaped palms and stylized diamonds, with polychrome floral crowns. Four spandrels with motifs echoing the central medallion. Eleven borders, the main one midnight blue with interlacing Flo bulbs in the form of stylized cabochons surrounded by finely drawn crenellated branches. 439 x 307 cm
