Mario NISSIM (1907-1990) Mother and child, 1944 Pastel on canvas Monogrammed and dated "Fev 44" lower right 61 x 50 cm Small accidents Mario Nissim was a Surrealist painter born in Greece. In 1930, he enrolled with André Lhote, but left for Fernand Léger's studio. He rubbed shoulders with such Surrealist poets as Breton, Éluard, Prévert, Soupault and Bryen.
