Horst Egon KALINOWSKI (1924-2013) Jazz, 1960 Collage of cut paper of various kinds and white chalk, on paper pasted to paper, signed and dated lower center, titled in the lower left margin, located in Paris and dated lower right. Small creases and slight soiling on the mounting paper. Approx. 65 x 50 cm Provenance: Daniel Cordier collection, Paris, label from the DBC [Daniel Bouyjou-Cordier] collection with inventory number affixed to the back of the mount. Born in Düsseldorf in 1924, Horst Egon KALINOWSKI came to Paris in 1950 and continued his training at La Grande Chaumière, in Jean Dewasne's abstract art studio. A genius at collage, rigorously selecting the materials he uses with meticulous technique, Kalinowski first excelled in his creations on paper. Daniel Cordier, who exhibited his work in his gallery from 1958, was his greatest supporter.
