Tofanari" on the terrace H. 43 x W. 58.8 x D. 21.7 cm This charming group featuring a donkey and her foal is the work of one of Italy's leading animal sculptors, Sirio Tofanari. Born into a family of ornamental sculptors, Sirio Tofanari trained at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts between 1902 and 1907, when he moved to London. Fascinated by animal diversity, he frequented zoos and natural history museums, studying both domestic and exotic animals. He exhibited mainly in Italy, but also abroad, in Paris, London, Rio de Janeiro, Barcelona and Brussels.
