This Danseuse au bracelet is one of the fifteen graceful figures making up the table centrepiece of Jeu de l'écharpe, a masterpiece by sculptor Agathon Léonard. Comprising eleven dancers, two musicians and two torchbearers, the artist presented this ensemble at the 1897 Salon, a project originally intended for the decoration of a foyer de Danse. Under the direction of Alexandre Sandier, the Manufacture de Sèvres successfully exploited this series of figures, which became a table centrepiece whose layout could be altered at will. Agathon Léonard wins the gold medal at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. The statuettes were produced in cookie in two sizes: 45 cm and 32 cm high. Our proof corresponds to the second size.
