H. 52 cm Some wear to the patina This is a portrait of Anna Foucart, eldest daughter of Jean-Baptiste Foucart, a close friend of Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux. The sculptor painted the young girl in 1860 and reused the model several times, adapting it for Rieuse napolitaine in 1863 and Rieuse aux roses in 1872. Here, the emphasis is on traditional Neapolitan costume, as a counterpoint to the bust of Le Rieur napolitain, one of the sculptor's greatest successes at the time.
