Henri Mercher (1912-1976), who took over his former boss's "Canape" workshop in 1937, was a great innovator, particularly in the use of new materials. His son Daniel joined his father's workshop in 1964, and took over in 1976 (Julien Flétry, Dictionnaire des relieurs de1800 à nos jours).
