1/ - Miracle de la rose. Paris, L'Arbalète, 1946. In-4, publisher's bradel cloth binding - foxing and slight damage to spine, damp stain on second cover, first free endpaper creased - 537 pp., [1 f., justification]. Edition of 475 copies on pur fil de Rives, watermarked "l'Arbalète", this one no. 392. First edition of the author's second novel.
2/ - Querelle de Brest. S.l.n., 1947. Large in-8 (28.3 x 19.2 cm) paperback, cover printed in white and blue (some foxing) - 250 pp., [1 f.]. Second edition, printed in December 1947, a few months after the original. Limited edition of 1850 copies, this one no. 1112.
3/ - Notre-Dame-des-Fleurs. Paris, L'Arbalète, 1948. In-16 "Jésus", paperback in filled cover, titled on spine - cover mounted upside down - title and running titles in red - 411 pp. 1 f. justification]. Limited edition reserved for subscribers on pur fil Lana watermarked "L'Arbalète". Second edition.
Discovered by Cocteau and then Sartre, Genet is the "pariah" of post-war French literature. His first novel, "Notre-Dame-des-Fleurs", written in Fresnes prison in 1942, was first published in December 1943 by Paul Morihien, Jean Cocteau's secretary.
4/ - Poems. Paris, L'Arbalète, 1948. In-4, paperback, illustrated cover with portraits of Genet by Dushan Stanimirovich, titled rhodoïd dust jacket (tears and missing parts), endpapers with traces of freckling left by inserted documents - 107 pp., [1 f.]. Edition of 1000 copies on pur fil Lana paper (no. 948). First edition.
Includes Jean Genet's first 4 theatrical works.
5/ - Les Bonnes. Sceaux, J.-J. Pauvert, 1954. In-8 paperback with yellow cover printed in red - 149 pp. and [3 ff.] The work presents both versions and an introductory letter from the author to J.-J. Pauvert, dealing mainly with the theater. Edition of 2000 copies, this one of 1942 on laid paper (no. 165). Partly first edition.
6/ - Haute surveillance. Paris, Gallimard, 1965. In-8 paperback. Current issue of the definitive edition.
7/ - Le Balcon. Décines, L'Arbalète, Marc Barbezat, 1956. In-8 paperback, in filled cover illustrated with a lithograph by Giacometti depicting the characters in the play - back cover and first endpaper marked by the yellowing trace left by an insert - 195 pp., [1 f.]. Edition of 3265 copies, this one of 3000 on Lana (n°1324).
