François Auguste DESMOULINS (Paris 1788-1857) - Lot 114
François Auguste DESMOULINS (Paris 1788-1857) Waterloo Canvas. 132 x 99.5 cm Signed on the sword at left: A. Desmoulin. The central group is made up of Imperial Guard foot grenadiers, clearly recognizable by their furry caps with Imperial Eagle plaques. On the ground, lower left, a cavalry lieutenant (probably a hussar) extends his arm. On the ground, a general officer, brigadier general, lies: this is General Cambronne, who refused the rank of division general and served at Waterloo as brigadier general; he was seriously wounded and captured during the fighting. We would like to thank Mr. Arnaud de Gouvion-Saint Cyr for his help in compiling this file.
