Dolores dit Lolo Soldevilla (1901-1971) Fallen angel Bronze with brown patina Signed, located and dated "Lolo Paris 1951". Bears a "CIRE PERDUE" stamp. H. 68.5 cm A committed artist from Cuba, Dolores dit Loló Soldevilla was a cultural attaché at the Cuban Embassy in France. In Paris, encouraged by painter Alfredo Lam, she joined Ossip Zadkine's studio at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. She forged ties with the avant-garde and turned to geometric abstraction. She took part in numerous international exhibitions and, in 1956, organized the first international exhibition of abstract art at the Palace of Fine Arts in Havana, bringing together European artists including Jean Arp, Sonia Delaunay and Victor Vasarely, as well as artists from Latin America.
