René Collamarini took evening classes in drawing and modeling before joining Jean Boucher's studio at the École des Beaux-Arts. Parallel to his training, he worked as a practitioner in a workshop where he was introduced to direct carving. Between the wars, Collamarini applied himself to the relief technique. In particular, he created the bas-relief La Céramique et Le Verre for the façade of the Palais du Trocadéro at the 1937 Universal Exhibition.
