Here, Jean Letourneur takes the opposite approach to the frozen figureheads of the 17th and 18th centuries. His female figure appears to be undulating: not draped, but clothed in masses of moving air. By materializing the air movements that surround her, he gives her figure an upward motion and great fluidity.
At the same time, he created Eve (cat. no. 174), part of the same quest: to make visible movements that are normally invisible.
