René LETOURNEUR (1898-1990) Three figures on pillar 1965 Original plaster Inscription (in pencil inside) : LETOURNEUR 34 x 9 x 9 cm This study and the one entitled Trois figures sur socle (cat. no. 90) are the beginnings of the group known as Les Trois figures, executed between 1974 and 1978 in Naxos marble. This marble gave rise to a bronze edition: print no. 1/8, exhibited in New York's Union Square in 2005, belongs to the collection of the New York Film Academy. Proof n°2/8 can be seen on the Place de l'Eglise in Fontenay-aux-Roses. Bibliography : 2009 EXHIBITION, p. 214-215, repr (finished work in marble).
