André Vincent Becquerel (1893-1981) Tiger clawing at a tree trunk Bronze with green and brown patinas Signed "AV BECQUEREL", numbered "18" and stamped "BRONZE" on the edge of the terrace at the trunk. Bears the founder's stamp "LN PARIS JL" for Les Neveux de Jules Lehman on the edge of the terrace below the left hind leg. H. 30 cm, terrace W. 38 x D. 8.5 cm, resting on a black marble base H. 4 cm A student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Becquerel studied with Hector Lemaire and Prosper Lecourtier. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1914 to 1922 and at the Exposition Universelle in 1937.
