A student of Hubert Robert and Jean-Charles Nicaise Perrin, Vauzelle exhibited at the Salon until 1837. He showed a particular interest in architecture. A close friend of Alexandre Lenoir, he designed the various rooms of the Musée des Monuments Français. In 1800, he accompanied the Comte de Laborde on a trip to Spain. The drawings he brought back were published in Voyage pittoresque en Espagne, 1806.
