Mathurin Méheut studied at the Beaux-Arts in Rennes, then at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Deeply attached to Brittany, he enjoyed working on the spot, in the open air, observing daily life. After a decisive stay at the Roscoff biological station, he developed a passion for aquatic life and the trades of the sea. A museum is dedicated to him in Lamballe-Armor.
