H. 15.5 cm Related literature: Henry Detouche, "Un sculpteur de la Danse : Boris Frödman", in L'art et les artistes, tome XI, avril-septembre, 1910, pp. 108-114, model reproduced on p. 109. After studying in St. Petersburg and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, Russian sculptor Boris Frödman-Cluzel was recommended by the Fabergé company and, around 1907, worked in England at the Royal Court, for which he created a series of statuettes of domestic animals. In 1910, Galerie Hébrard organized a monographic exhibition of small bronze statuettes by the sculptor under the title Les Artistes de la Danse Russes et Française. Thanks to meticulous observation, Frödman-Cluzel's dancers, with their wide variety of attitudes, convey the truth of the gestures admired in Russian ballets, then in vogue in Parisian and European artistic circles. Here, he pays tribute to the famous Russian dancer Ludmila Schollar (1888-1978).
