From the Quinze-Vingts printing office, at Œdipe, at the Sphynx. And is sold in Paris, at Le Boucher, 1786. 2 volumes in-8 bound in full contemporary calf, very ornate smooth spines, title (red) and tome (green), red edges - small rubs to the headpieces - continuous pagination : XIX, [1] pp. 352 pp. ; [1f.], 353 to 694 pp. Excellent interior condition without handwritten inscriptions as some copies giving the answers to the 770 charades in the margins. The fashion of the charades infused the literary circles particularly in the XVII and XVIII century where it found through the Mercure Galant then the Mercure de France its letters of nobility. Semillard is one of the last representatives of this poetic, educational and creative genre, which calls upon knowledge that one would be hard pressed to find, even in the erudite spheres of our societies.
