Jeanne Piffard (1892-1971) Mouflon Sèvres stoneware, unique piece Signed "J. PIFFARD" on the left rear leg Bears the stamp " SEVRES Manufacture Nationale France " and the mention " original ". H. 14 x W. 23 x D. 11,5 cm A student at the Académie Julian and then at the Grande Chaumière, Jeanne Piffard participated in the Salon des Artistes Français in 1924 and in the Salon d'Automne from 1928. She won the First Grand Prize at the 1937 Universal Exhibition and exhibited at the 1940 Venice Biennale. After the war, after the liberation, she abandoned animal sculpture and turned to religious art.
