Joseph Rivière (1912-1961) The projected man Patinated plaster H. 104 x L. 107 cm Small accidents This plaster represents the projected Man of the eponymous monument created by Joseph Rivière and inaugurated on July 6, 1952 in Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle. In 1951, the sculptor presented the plaster model at his own Salon, the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture founded with Denys Chevalier and Pierre Descargues. The purpose of this event was to allow artists to overcome the spatial constraints of traditional exhibitions and thus highlight monumental sculpture.
