Articulated 950‰ platinum bracelet, adorned... - Lot 80 - Crait + Müller
Articulated 950‰ platinum bracelet, adorned with sapphires in invisible settings framed by round diamonds. Art Deco. Circa 1930. French work. Hallmark of master S.N. Dimensions: 18.00 x 2.00 cm. Gross weight: 110.40 grams. The invisible setting: an extraordinary setting It is necessary to underline the very great flexibility of this bracelet which makes it possible to curve it in all the directions, while keeping the aspect of the paving in perfect invisible setting. French jewellers developed this acrobatic technique in the 1930s. First registered by Cartier in 1933 to protect the technical details under the name of invisible setting, then by Van Cleef and Arpels in 1936, under the name of mystery setting. The example we present illustrates this moment of perfection in French craftsmanship that has never been equaled. Few great jewelers dared to engage in this sophisticated production at the same time.
