Haardt, Georges-Marie - Audouin-Dubreuil, Louis. - La Croisière Noire, Expedition Citroën Centre-Afrique. Paris, Plon, 1927. In-4, paperback, filled cover illustrated with a map of Africa, folder with suede covers and cloth spine, slipcase - [3 ff.], VII pp. (foreword), 261 pp, [2 ff.], 80 rotogravures h-t in black, 57 decorative compositions, 3 folding coloured maps and 1 in-t map on double page. Edition at 2500 copies, this one of 500 on Madagascar (° 162). This crossing of Africa from North to South was suggested to André Citroën by the French President of the time, Gaston Doumergue, who wished to link the African colonies with the most distant of them, Madagascar, on a regular basis. The aim of this second Citroën expedition was initially political, but as for his trans-Saharan expedition, Citroën also wanted it to be scientific and the industrialist surrounded himself with geologists, cartographers, anthropologists, etc. Nice copy.
