Chateaubriand - C.P. Josso - Atala. Paris, Société du Livre d'Art, 1953. Large in-4, half dark blue morocco with bands, gilt fillets on the boards, spine with 4 nerves decorated with gilt fillets, author, title and illustrator gilt, gilt head, covers preserved, lined and bordered slipcase - 136 pp, [3 ff.] Illustrated with 19 burin engravings by C.P. Josso of which 2 full-page and one double-page. Edition at 150 numbered copies on Angoumois vellum (n° 131), containing one of the 15 first state suites of Josso's engravings printed on Montval cream paper. This beautiful volume was edited by Robert de Billy (a close friend of Proust, who died the same year as this book) and Ernest Goüin (a descendant of the famous family of industrialists and philanthropists). It was printed by Daragnès.
