S-031G-00d Marcel Damboise and Albert Camus met in 1934 in Algiers, during an exhibition at the Villa Abd-el-Tif: Damboise, aged 31, exhibited there as a boarder; Camus, aged 21, went there as an art critic for L'écho d'Alger. A friendship develops between them, nourished by the love of the Greeks. It continues until the writer's fatal accident in 1960. After Camus' death, Damboise created medallions and a bust to leave an effigy of Camus for posterity. One of the medallions, made of stone, adorns a monument in honour of Camus erected in Villeblin in the Yonne, the town where his brutal death occurred.
