Hugo, Victor. — Two autographed notes. 1/ To Miss Adèle Rivet: “The charming young girl has become a noble young woman; I shall be delighted to see you, Madame, on my next visit to Brussels and to pay my respects at your feet.” Hauteville House, November 30 [1868]. The letter was delivered in Paris on December 13, 1868. Postmark and stamp on a sheet of blue paper. 2/ Note addressed to a poet: “Friday, November 25. Come, poet, come, so I may shake your hand! Your verses are beautiful, gentle, and proud. You are a valiant soul. Your poetry possesses the magnificent radiance of truth and justice. I send you my old heart.” It remains unknown to whom this magnificent, undated tribute was addressed. 1 bifolio on cream-colored paper
