"on the terrace H. 52 cm The antique marble was discovered in 1792 on the property of Prince Borghese in Gabies, near Rome. Acquired by Napoleon in 1807, the work was sent to France and exhibited in the Louvre from 1820. The Diana of Gabies, whose beauty was praised by the critics, was a real success. The model was widely distributed throughout the 19th century, notably through the assistance of the publisher Barbedienne.
