Mario NISSIM (1907-1990) Portrait of the artist, 1943 Pastel on paper Signed and dated lower right 50 x 33 cm Mario Nissim was a Surrealist painter born in Greece. In 1930, he enrolled with André Lhote, leaving to join Fernand Léger's studio. He rubbed shoulders with such Surrealist poets as Breton, Éluard, Prévert, Soupault and Bryen.
