Francesco La Monaca (1882-1937) Don Quixote Bronze with brown patina shaded with green Signed "La Monaca Bears the founder's stamp "CIRE / C. H. 40 cm In 1903, Italian-born Francis La Monaca moved to Paris, where he attended the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and trained in the studios of Gabriel-Jules Thomas and Jean-Antoine Injalbert. He rubbed shoulders with the avant-garde and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1907. He enjoyed a certain success with Parisian high society, and painted many portraits.
