Arno Breker (1900-1991) Fortuna Bronze with brown patina Signed on the terrace and on the side of the terrace. Justified EA. Stamped Venturi Arte on underside. Foundry stamp "HSD" (Schmake Dusseldorf). H. 20 x W. 16 x D. 25 cm Provenance: Dominique and Denise Egret Collection The son of a sculptor, Arno Breker entered the Düsseldorf School of Fine Arts in 1919, then moved to Paris in 1925, where he trained with Despiau and admired the work of Maillol. After a stay in Italy, he returned to Germany in 1937. Influenced by the canons of ancient Greece, he sculpted athletic figures.
