Versailles, Blaizot. 1 vol. in-12, red morocco with the coat of arms of France, gilt edges. - It is possible that the upper board has been replaced. The morocco is not the same as that of the lower cover and the arms are not similar, nor are the scrolls on the edges. - The two almanacs are a valuable source of information about the city and the court at the end of the 18th century: nomenclature of the royal family, royal officers, addresses of messengers, etc. The Almanac of Versailles also contains a history and description of the château and the main works of art it contains; the gardens are then visited with a list of vases, statues, ornaments and the names of the sulpteurs. Then come the names of the people in the service of the King, the Queen and the House. Finally, there is information on the city (the clergy, the parish, the educational institutions, the royal printing house, the artisans, merchants, surgeons, etc.), a note on court mourning, and the table of departures and arrivals of the couriers.
