Louis Dejean (1872-1953) Bather kneeling and combing her hair White marble. Signed " L. Dejean " on the back of the base H. 51 cm Self-taught, Louis Dejean achieved success at the turn of the century with terracotta statuettes of graceful young women, captured in their daily activities and dressed in the fashion of Paris at the time. He then turned to more academic subjects, and his style reinterpreted ancient Greco-Roman art, following the ideas of the "Bande à Schnegg", a group of sculptors active during the first decade of the 20th century.
