François Galoyer (1944) Young pigeon Bronze... - Lot 179 - Crait + Müller
François Galoyer (1944) Young pigeon Bronze proof with a shaded brown-green patina Cast with lost wax Signed : " Galoyer ". Numbered: 3/8, stamped "Ciselure d'Art d'Ile de France (CAI)" on the bottom of the tail at the back 40,5 x 13 x 25,5 cm François Galoyer draws inspiration from the forests of his childhood in Seine-et-Marne where, since 1970, he has built his workshop. Between 1962 and 1969, Volti, then the Joachim brothers, themselves practitioners in Pompon's workshop, taught him the techniques of direct carving on stone, then on wood. From the 1970s onwards, he developed a formal register of solid volumes and pure forms, straight out of the animal world. Owls, hawks, partridges, chickadees or hamster, moles, rabbits, emerge in noble woods, bold stones...the great variety of subjects shows a preference for birds and wild animals, and an attachment to life size. Galoyer edits most of his sculptures in bronze while paying particular attention to their patina. Some subjects are now out of print. From his studio in the middle of nature, driven by a wonder for nature that has remained intact for more than forty years, he regularly sends his sculptures to the Salons d'Automne, des Artistes Français and becomes a faithful participant in the Salon National des Artistes Animaliers where he receives the Grand Prix Animalier Édouard-Marcel Sandoz in 1991. Distinctions : - 1986 : " Édouard Marcel Sandoz " Prize awarded by the Taylor Foundation, Salon d'Automne - 1988: Bronze medal, Salon des Artistes Français - 1988: Bronze medal, Salon des Artistes Animaliers - 1991 : Prize of the Animaliers, Biennale of the National Society of Fine Arts - 1991 : Grand Prix Animalier " Édouard-Marcel Sandoz ", Salon National des Artistes Animaliers - 1992 : Gold medal, Salon des Artistes français - 1999 : Sculpture Prize, National Society of Fine Arts Bibliography : - HACHET Jean-Charles, Les bronzes animaliers, de l'antiquité à nos jours, second edition, Tome II - L'époque contemporaine. - XVe Salon National des Artistes Animaliers, 19 October - 17 November 1991, Hôtel de Malestroit - Bry-sur-Marne.
