Louis DEJEAN (1872-1953) Kneeling bather with her hair done White marble. Signed L. Dejean on the back of the base. H.51 cm Self-taught, Louis Dejean became successful at the turn of the century with terracotta statuettes of graceful young women, captured in their daily activities and dressed in the fashion of Paris at the time. He then turned to more academic subjects, and his style reinterpreted ancient Greco-Roman art, in accordance with the ideas defended by the "Bande à Schnegg", a group of sculptors active during the first decade of the 20th century.
