Set of 7 works stamped with arms or monograms. 1/ - [Pothier, Robert-Joseph]. A treatise on the contract for the constitution of an annuity by the author of the treatise on obligations / A treatise on the contract of exchange, on the negotiation of bills of exchange, and other commercial notes. Paris, Debure l'aîné, Orléans, J. Rouzeau-Montaut, 1763. 2 volumes in-12, bound in full tan calf, boards with arms, spines very ornate (slight difference in floral motifs) - VIII, 275 pp. / VIII, 258 pp, [3 ff. approval and errata, blank, errata of the annuity contract]. Pothier (1699-1772), "the most famous jurisconsult that France has known", adviser to the presidial of Orléans for nearly 52 years and alderman of Orléans for 25 years, was the most famous French jurisconsult whose work inspired American jurists in the 18th century and the drafters of the "Code Napoléon". Lyon, Rusand, 1819. In-12 bound in full long-grained morocco, the boards decorated with a frieze of alternating fleur-de-lis, palmettes and a floral element, and an escutcheon bearing the monogram "VLB", smooth spine decorated with a palm leaf, a cross and a burning heart, gilt edges. A handwritten indication gives the name of its owner from Lyon "Victorine Besson" (VB but not the L). 4/ - The Christian year. Paris, E. Josset, 1699-1704. 3 volumes (out of 7, volumes 3, 4, 7) in-12 bound in full burgundy morocco, with boards decorated with a triple frame of gilt fillets and a large monogram "DC" topped by a floral crown held by 2 fluttering birds, spine ribbed, title (1 missing) and tomes (1 missing), gilt edges.
