The Union des Artistes Modernes is a leading artistic movement of the avant-garde in the 20th century. It was founded in 1929 by a group of artists from various backgrounds. They want to embody the modernité́ in all fields of art, composed of architects, decorators, painters, sculptors and jewelry designers they have a common vocation; To present a new universe different from the decorative styles of the time.
The UAM puts forward, through its productions, everyday objects as well as craft and industrial products often signed of the famous "Made in France" of good workmanship and at more affordable prices. There is a will to simplify styles by using a geometrical vocabulary but also materials such as labradorite, amethyst, lacquer or enamels. Several jewellery artists are associated with this movement, such as Gérard Sandoz, Raymond Templier, Jean Fouquet and Paul Émile Brandt, with whom we have found motifs and colours of lacquer similar to the bracelet we are presenting.
