NORTHERN FRANCE, late 18th century, circa 1789 TWO REVOLUTIONARY PLACES in fine earthenware, one of which has contoured edges with black monochrome decoration in the centre of a sword, a spade and a crook crossed behind a fleur-de-lys surmounted by a crown. Inscription union support force and virgin banner below. Black net on the edge. Marked in hollow 4 on the reverse. Wears a PM Sestié collection label. Slight scratches and some stains. On joint UN ROUND FLAT with contoured edges decorated in the center with a shield bearing three crowned fleurs-de-lys, below between two necklaces of the order of St Esprit the inscription constitution or death. This shield is supported by two female cherubs bearing spades, with Phrygian caps. Underneath a banner marking the nation, the law and the king. Above, a banner with the words live free or die. On the wing, six flowering branches. Marked in hollow E. Bouruc? Crack. D. 23.3 and 29.5 cm. BIBLIOGRAPHIE : similar model in Claude Bonnet, op. cit.  81 figure 53.
