France Emma Raphaël (1877-1962) Portrait of Charles Rouvière (1866-1924), painter Bronze with green-brown patina Signed "F. Raphael" and dated "1936" on the left side of the neck Bears the stamp "C. VALSUANI CIRE PERDUE" and stamped "BRONZE". H. 30 cm, on a black Belgian marble base H. 19 cm Originally from Holland, France Emma Raphaël moved to Paris in 1885 and attended Laurent-Honoré Marqueste's studio at the École des Beaux-Arts from 1901. From 1906 to 1953, she exhibited numerous portraits, nudes and maternities at the Salon des Artistes Français, as well as decorative panels in exotic woods.
