Bound in brown calfskin, with a decorated raised-rib spine - Flat caps, pierced corners, several cracks, including one running the full height; plate 32 on p. 433 is torn with a 20 x 20 cm gap in the corner; otherwise complete with all 35 required plates (plate 31 is omitted from the numbering). [9 ff.], CC–675 pp.; 867–LVI pp.; CII–819 pp.; 839 pp.; 944 pp. Handwritten bookplate of a Grand Duke of Berg — A major classic of Parisian historiography, the *Histoire de Paris*, begun by Dom Félibien and completed by his colleague Dom Lobineau, belongs in any library dedicated to the history of Paris. Equipped with very comprehensive onomastic and geographical indexes, it includes three volumes of supporting documents that attest to the seriousness with which the authors approached their subject. The 35 plates constitute a beautiful collection of illustrations depicting classical Paris as reshaped by Louis XIV.
