Vieillard, Roger. - Homage to Arthur Rimbaud. [Paris, the Author, c. 1944]. Folio, loose-leaf, in a salmon-colored paper cover illustrated with an engraving on each side; cardboard slipcase with the front cover hand-stamped and incised with the initials “AR”; slipcase decorated with a strip of colored paper (bound copy signed, inscription indecipherable) - [1 title leaf, 12 leaves of poems, 1 blank leaf, 1 colophon, 12 leaves of engravings]. Illustrated with 12 full-page engravings initialed in pencil and 4 vignettes (1 on the cover, 1 repeated on the title page, 1 on the colophon—with the full signature in pencil—and 1 on the back cover). A print run of only 7 copies: 4 proof copies marked I through IV and three artist’s copies marked A, B, C. This copy, marked “C,” on antique Japanese paper, was presented with the inscription “To Msika, for whom this copy has fallen into good hands. Best regards, Roger Vieillard.” The BNF holds, as a donation, the copy belonging to Anita de Caro, the wife of R. Vieillard. An exceptional copy published prior to the 1945 edition released by Seuil.
