In-12, full bottle-green morocco (19th century, attributable to Duru), ribbed spine, gilt title, double fillet on the edges, wide gilt edge, gilt edges - [4 ff.], 325 pp., [2 pp.]. Fourth edition of this collection of poems divided into four parts, each written in a different language (Latin, Greek, French, and Italian), by this great grammarian whose students included Madame de Sévigné and Madame de Lafayette. It should be noted that epigram CXII (in Latin) is dedicated to Daniel Elzevir (the publisher). 2/ - Chevreau, Urbain. - Œuvres meslées de Monsieur Chevreau. The Hague, Ad. Moetjens, 1697. 12mo, bound in speckled calfskin, spine with raised bands and decorated, burgundy title label—[7 folios out of 8; the author’s portrait is missing], 662 pp. [17 pp. table of contents, 5 pp. publisher’s catalog] - A pasted-in title page corresponding to the 2-volume edition (identical in text), marked “Part One.” Beautiful ex-libris of Count A. Kunholtz-Lordat, drawn and engraved by F. Dupont. 3/ - Marigny, Abbé [Jacques Carpentier] de. - *Le Pain béni*. S.l.n., 1673. In-12, full contemporary grained calfskin with a smooth, decorated spine; title running lengthwise on a piece of fawn calfskin—23 pp., [1 blank p.], 24 pp. (reply). A satirical poem in verse about church wardens. According to Quérard, this edition is believed to be the first (504 lines instead of 505).
