In-16, bound in a modern soft vellum cover (20th century) with an overcover, hand-inscribed title on the spine - Title page soiled, scattered foxing - 521 leaves (including the title page, dedication, preface, and miscellaneous sections), [7 leaves, table of contents]. This collection of 16th-century poets—including d’Aubigné, Du Bellay, Malherbe, Pibrac, Rapin, and others—was so successful that it “soon gave rise to the Parnassus of the most excellent poets of that time” (Brunet, II, 645).
