A Collection of Works on the Coats of Arms of French Cities and Provinces.
1/ - Meurgey, Jacques. - Coats of Arms of the Provinces and Cities of France. A collection of three hundred seventy-two woodcuts engraved for King Louis XIV and preserved at the Condé Museum in Chantilly. Preface by Mr. Gustave Macon. Paris, Ch. Bosse, 1929. Large quarto, bound in green half-morocco with a smooth spine, gilt lettering; covers and spine intact—VIII, 213 pp., [1 folio table of contents]. Illustrated with 53 plates (out of text) depicting the coats of arms of 471 towns or provinces, using 372 woodcuts (some woodcuts are used for multiple towns sharing the same coat of arms). Printed in an edition of 250 copies; this one is one of 225 printed on Arches vellum (no. 186).
