A set of 4 puzzles from the 19th century. - “Compliments of the inventor.” A 28-piece puzzle (26 letters and 2 ampersands) with an image on the back of a giant’s head being attacked by goblins. Presented in a wooden box without its lid. - The Alphabetical Farm. Paris, H. Duru, Lithogr. H. Jannin, [c. 1855]. Cardboard box illustrated with a lithograph, containing 3 complete puzzles: The Harvest, Off to the Market (1 small piece missing), The Farmwoman Goes to Milk Her Cows. Box is damaged and soiled. - The Children’s Railroad. A Box of Puzzles. Bavaria, J. W.S. & S., [c. 1900]. Damaged cardboard box and 4 locomotive puzzles in good condition. - Grotesque Alphabet. Paris, L. Saussine, [c. 1870]. Cardboard box virtually non-existent; 2 puzzles, each with 6 figures. - Illustrated alphabet game to teach children to read and count while entertaining them... [c. 1890]. Wooden box with a sliding lid and title label, containing 73 of 75 pieces for 3 puzzles: 1/- on the front, chromolithograph “Summer in the Woods.” Paris, Aubry; on the reverse, numbers (two sets of 0–9) and two ligated letters, two accented letters, and the letter W. 2/ - on the front, a chromolithograph titled “Autumn in the Vineyards.” Paris, Aubry; on the reverse, the alphabet (the letter “O” is missing); 3/ - on the front, a pink drawing on each piece of a character or object from Arlequin to Zinnia. Paris, A. Suive; on the back, the alphabet (the "U" is missing). Each piece is numbered from 1 to 25. A label from the store “Au Paradis des Enfants” on the outer bottom of the box. Overall condition of the puzzles (excluding the boxes): 7/10 - Rarity: 4/5
