Two leaves from a Sa'adi Divan, Qajar Iran, 19th century Two pages from a small Persian manuscript, a Sa'di Diwan, painted in gouache and gold on paper in fine shekaste nasta'liq script, the front page adorned with a Qajar painting of a prince discussing with a young woman in front of an old man, and a woman with child, the reverse adorned with a finely illuminated frontispiece, corresponding to the beginning of a poetic text. Wear, stains and minor accidents. Framed under glass. 13 x 7.5 cm These two leaves correspond to two pages of a Sa'adi Divan. The first has on one side the end of the section of poems in Arabic and Persian (mulamma'at) and on the other the illuminated frontispiece of an untitled section, probably the tarji'-bands. The second leaf has the end of the Qasidas section on one side and the illuminated frontispiece of an untitled section, probably eulogies (marsiyas) as the text is the beginning of an eulogy on Abu Bakr Sa'd b. Zangi on the other side.
